Homemade BBQ Sauce
Amy
There’s something magical about a homemade BBQ sauce that store-bought versions just can’t match. With just 5 minutes of prep and 25 minutes of simmering, you’ll have a rich, glossy sauce that’s bursting with depth and complexity.
Prep Time 5 minutes mins
Cook Time 25 minutes mins
Total Time 30 minutes mins
- 1½ cups ketchup
- ½ cup apple cider vinegar
- ½ cup water
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup tamari or soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
In a medium saucepan, combine the ketchup, vinegar, water, brown sugar, tamari, mustard, garlic powder, cumin, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring often, for 20 minutes, or until thickened. Season to taste and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
